What are the different types of canine parasites?

There are three general types of dog parasites: internal, external, and intestinal.

Heartworms are the most common type of internal parasite, lice and fleas are some examples of external dog parasites, and worms (for example ringworm) and giardia make up the bulk of intestinal parasites.
