What is chemotherapy like for dogs?

Chemotherapy treatments for dogs can range from weekly to monthly depending on the protocol. Some of these treatments are given in hospitals, while some newer, targeted therapies are oral medications given at home.

Veterinary oncologists do not use as high of a dose of chemotherapy compared to in people. This is because they don't want pups to have severe side effects that would cause them to be hospitalized and in pain.

Instead, the goal of the veterinary oncologist is to balance controlling their cancer for as long as possible so they can enjoy a good quality of life.

Oral chemo sucks, but I always feel so much better when I'm pampered with love from my human. Anyone else on oral chemo? What have your experiences been?
